Dean Martin wasn’t one of the crooners I fell for as a kid. That honor went to Robbie Williams, Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr... But Dean? I had to grow into him. And once I did, I was hooked. There’s hardly anyone in music history who radiated charm the way he did.

Of course, Everybody Loves Somebody is one of his most famous songs. However, to honor the crooner tradition, I had to create an original, authentic interpretation of this world-famous classic once again. Despite the original being warm, slow, and romantic, I felt this song would work amazingly well with a more uptempo swinging feel. This hypothesis was proven by my unbelievable arranger, Ilja Reijngoud, when he came with the arrangement for my version. The big band in full swing, with gorgeous strings.

It turned out to be a total earworm, in the best possible way. It sounds like a brand-new original, not a cover. This is the kind of track I dreamed of singing as a kid: rich, swinging, and full of life. This song portrays exactly who I’ve always wanted to be as a crooner.
